BACKGROUND
In recent years, Georgia’s population has grown dramatically as a result of our welcoming spirit, pleasant climate, and favorable employment and development opportunities.  Leadership Georgia is dedicated to making an ongoing contribution to our state’s extraordinary growth by preparing leaders for tomorrow. Bruce Williamson, Past Chairman, announces the Endowment Campaign with Tavia McCuean to alumni members at the May 2006 Program on St. Simons Island. 

Today Leadership Georgia is at a crossroads.  Tuition and alumni dues were increased in 2003 to provide for increase in operating expenses, yet the organization must raise over $100,000.00 annually to continue to offer leadership programs of the highest caliber and to ensure the availability of scholarship funds as needed. 

Leadership Georgia recently completed an extensive strategic planning process.  The organization has determined that, in order to achieve long-term financial stability, it must raise $1.5 million in order to increase its endowment to $3 million. The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation is helping to underwrite Leadership Georgia’s program expenses through 2008, freeing the organization to concentrate on building its endowment to support programming needs.  The endowment funding is critical to the mission of Leadership Georgia – and to the success of our state.

In the decades to come, our state looks forward to continued growth and prosperity.  We also know that many unforeseen challenges lie ahead.  Georgians have a long tradition of overcoming adversity and achieving great things, but we must continue to educate and support new leaders if we are to continue to succeed. 

Selection and participation in Leadership Georgia is an honor, but with this honor comes an obligation to use one’s full talent, ideas and energy to build a better Georgia for all citizens.  Leadership Georgia alumni take this responsibility seriously, and by supporting this important funding initiative, you can be responsible for making an equally important contribution toward strengthening our state.
